OUR PLAN
In July 2022 affiliate groups that make up the Waiariki District Māori Wardens' had their first meeting where they discussed the direction of the District going ahead. This ended with election of officers to form the Waiariki District Māori Wardens' Trustees with representatives from Opotiki, Murupara, Rotorua and Taupō as a result the nominations were received and carried by those who attended which put representatives from Opotiki, Taupō, Kawerau and Rotorua as elected Trustees.
The Trustees meet monthly and have decided to enable quarterly meetings for affiliate groups. March 2023, the affiliate groups arrived to meet for the first time in the year to discuss and go over the direction of the trust. The trust presented the draft Trust Deed which was put to the floor for discussion and was received with positive feedback. It was indicated that from that day the trust deed was signed by each trustee and will be put forward to make it the document offical.
Further discussions were raised about future opportunities and how each affiliate group can help each other with major events. Funding opportunities and job opportunities were discussed also.
More information to come about the Trustees and future Affiliate Meetings.
